Your Life Your Mind Your Say - This is a poem about the dark and light side of karma and the struggle to navigate a path out of Plato's cave of illusion by Michael Joseph Farrelly

Your Life Your Mind Your Say

When evil comes a knocking
You seldom get to choose
That feint of moral mocking
Intent to light your fuse

The darkness it feels good
That bait and hook of guile
A sudden rush of blood
It panders to your bile

Regret it will come late
You realise what you've done
Dressed up as Patsy fate
Too quick to draw your gun

So how to face your maker
When dark of Karma's light
A badass by the acre
Too late to plea your plight

The tainted path chose you
'twas easy meat for prey
You couldn't think it through
The highest price to pay

It's hard to see the light
Get out of Plato's cave
The usury of sleight
Ensnares all but the brave

When kindness comes a knocking
You always get to choose
A candour that is rocking
Intent to crush your blues

The light it just feels good
No bait a sincere smile
This truth is in your blood
A heartfelt soul of style

Regret be not your fate
Your innate self would run
Straight out that cave of hate
Into the days of sun

So now to face your maker
In light of Karma's dark
A good guy by the acre
No more the Patsy mark

This tainted path ain't you
Scorn all its wretched sway
You must now think it through
Your life your mind your say

When you can see the light
You can leave Plato's cave
No usury of sleight
Can hold a free mind slave

"Your Life Your Mind Your Say" - My Inspiration

Reality and the karmic effect of our actions. A reminder, life is a tough course to hurdle.
My inference that Plato's cave of illusion is alive and kicking today reminds me of a quote attributed to Plato but cannot be found anywhere in the Allegory Of The Cave. Still if I look beyond the paraphrasing this line is a damn good fit:

"Those who are able to see beyond the shadows and lies of their culture will never be understood, let alone believed, by the masses".
