Your Currency Is Numbers

A poem by Michael Joseph Farrelly

We want war, we want it now
Talking heads so brave at distance
Might is right, make them kowtow
Brutal force our essence

Ever since man threw first stone
Brute force prized the prompt to prime
Roses mask all thorns of throne
A coercion so sublime

Ohhh to cast such power
Borne of crystal malice
From gilded cage of grandeur
A quick-step to abyss

Hist'ry taught when titans fought
They end up deep in drink
Tartarus smiled, at what war wrought
Yet lessons learnt still shrink

Now tech-lords of today
Control the strings of Brass
They train AI to pay
Homage to war en-masse

War-game it now on screen
See here, we cannot lose
Listen well to our machine
Then watch it on the news

Breaking, breaking hubris now
The plan's not going well
When lies are hard to swallow
All war is hard to sell

Dare AI, step off its ledge
Its sureness so aloof
A quick recode and it will pledge
A changed outcome for its goof

Just move on, mistakes are rife
The future has its price
You're just upset, for your sons life
His raw data we can splice

Seems ev'ry war's the same
Your sons are sent not theirs
Its mankind's eternal shame
That no leader really cares

A story told remembers
The power of your sway
Your currency is numbers
To tear their rug away

When the costs for saying yes
Pass the price for saying no
It's time we must profess
To stop these wars of woe

If you want war, then YOU go
Stop being brave at distance
Walk the talk, blow by blow
The reaper craves your presence

Great quotes are not where you find great wisdom. It's where you share this knowledge that counts

"Your Currency Is Numbers" - My Inspiration

Why is it always the wrong people sent to fight wars?

The former soldier and POTUS Dwight D. Eisenhower summed it up thus:
"There is no glory in battle worth the blood it costs."

The author George Orwell shared this view:
"All the war-propaganda, all the screaming and lies and hatred, comes invariably from people who are not fighting"
