When They Push Too Far

When They Push Too Far
A poem about doing the right thing in the face of adversity by Michael Joseph Farrelly
From our roots to the grave
We're taught right from wrong
A clean slate to enslave
Your right to belong
Your lips say the word
Your heart feels another
Why hug the absurd
To follow big brother
The law of control
Cares not what is right
It will steal from your soul
Make you swallow life's spite
Your silence serves who
Stiff upper lip time
It was wrong and you knew
Your ethical crime
So why shake your head
The easy way out
Your conscience has fled
No honour to spout
You think you are strong
To your orders you cling
But it's never wrong
To do the right thing
Whose side will you choose
When it comes to the time
The State lights the fuse
For resistance to climb
The Liberty pole
Is not what it seems
They hijacked its role
To shatter your dreams
From your bed of roses
You'll see it's not so far
As your good life closes
When they push too far
From a once proud patriot
You'll see it's not so far
'til you bite the bullet
When they push too far
From no hope of reason
It is not so far
To the fields of treason
When they push too far
Let's. Not. Go. There.
Great quotes are not where you find great wisdom. It's where you share this knowledge that counts

"When They Push Too Far" - My Inspiration
Tyranny disguised as democracy to usher in autocracy.
Or in the words of the author Alexandre Dumas:
"The difference between treason and patriotism is only a matter of dates".
