The Silence Of Our Scar

A poem by Michael Joseph Farrelly

So what's the biggest story
Of this cent'ry so far
Some hero wrapped in glory
Or the silence of our scar

A world in shock bore witness
To the worst of mankind's crimes
Amoral deeds so ruthless
A sign of crimson times

As the world looked on aghast
Most leaders stayed tight lipped
The press did not lambast
The truth was really zipped

Gaza, Gaza genocide
This was filmed in real-time
The world looked on, horrified
At live on-air war crime

The torture of a people
Children murdered on our dime
Live slaughter was this symbol
The scandal of our time

Corpses lay in rubble
Rescues fraught by double strike
Hungry kids would huddle
Their shadows torn so ghostlike

A scale of death off the charts
All lambs of soul they crush
These war crime spree braggarts
Would make The Reaper blush

Gaza, Gaza genocide
This was filmed in real-time
Snipers smirked, victims died
In zones of lethal clime

Recourse for war crimes will
Echo. ... Haunting ever-more
For all complicit shill
Whose hidden-hands helped war

The essence of this era
All products of this time
Their demon faced in mirror
Reveals their soul of slime

Which side of hist'ry did you stand
Were you gripped in blackmail's vice
The judge of time draws line in sand
Big names to sacrifice

Gaza, Gaza genocide
War crimes filmed live on-air
Hist'ry will now decide
Who's guilty in full glare

For crimes of men so heinous
This cent'ry has no par
With hist'ry they'll face justice
For the silence of our scar

Great quotes are not where you find great wisdom. It's where you share this knowledge that counts

"The Silence Of Our Scar" - My Inspiration

Scars so deep that silence cannot endure.

The author Haruki Murakami summed it up thus:

"You can hide memories, but you can’t erase the history that produced them."
