Once Your Eyes Arise

A poem by Michael Joseph Farrelly

All news is made equal
So you hear from your side
Truth wading through treacle
No chagrin of pride

Another view hastens
Lights match to fuse truth
As surreal just visions
The expected forsooth

So where do you stand?
With such blatant deceive
When stories are planned
What should you believe?

So why don't you question
What is going on
The system is broken
If can't question no Don

Once your eyes arise
You cannot unsee
A news-flow of lies
Fed to you and me

The first question's the hardest
From your comfort zone
To speak out's an odd test
What if I'm all alone?

Am I mocked and cancelled
If dare say what I think
My name smeared and sullied
By fast bots in sync

The official line's fear
To keep you in place
They view you with sneer
And surveil your space

Red-lines only work
When too few will break them
So strike back, wipe their smirk
Clog up their vile system

Your numbers they fear
Gerrymandered to reign
This tip of blunt spear
Exposed by disdain

Once your eyes arise
You cannot unsee
A world built on lies
Fed to you and me

Great quotes are not where you find great wisdom. It's where you share this knowledge that counts
