There Is No Substitute For Victory

There Is No Substitute For Victory

Douglas MacArthur Quote

There is no substitute for victory; Douglas MacArthur showing true grit, pride and determination on his winner takes all trail to many glorious victories.

Well, if you are going for a career or life in the military, then adopting a philosophy like this would be a pretty good mindset for success.

The military ran in the blood of the MacArthur family and when you consider that Douglas MacArthur and his father Arthur MacArthur, Jr. were the first father and son to be awarded the Medal Of Honor for their war time battlefield service then you can really appreciate the depth of meaning that he (Douglas MacArthur) put into this troop rallying expression.

When you have a military background like this then your stirring speeches to the troops need no explanation as it would be an adrenaline rush for the soldier just being in his presence to hear his battle cry.

Success comes in many forms but nowhere is it more acute than in the theatre of war where ill perceived strategies can mean life or death for the combatants involved.

Winning Victories The MacArthur Way

Winning victories was something Douglas MacArthur excelled at and coming from a military family he and his father Arthur MacArthur Jr were the first father and son to be awarded The Medal Of Honour.

Across the globe MacArthurs military achievements were recognised as he was awarded over 100 military decorations from countries spanning four continents.

A Visionary For Victory

MacAuthur was not only a great leader but he was also a great visionary, before Germany's failed Eastern Front offensive he opined that Germany could not defeat the Soviet Union.

He also voiced his opinion that the future lay in the far east and when you now see China rising as the second largest economy in the world you get a feeling of déjà vu as economists and politicians say look east like it has never been said before.

Douglas MacArthur was right when he said 'There is no substitute for victory' and at the end of his 52 years of military service he recalled another famous quote; 'Old soldiers never die, they just fade away', and indeed with great pride in victories achieved, he did, but he will never be forgotten.
