It's that time of year again where everyone makes all sorts of weird and wonderful suggestions to their inner self in the hope of life improvement.

Everyone hopes and wishes for a better future for themselves and their loved ones, but what exactly is hope and what has it ever achieved?.

Can hope be summoned like a taxi on a metropolitan boulevard on a rainy day or is it an ever present built into the human psyche to protect the mind from despair?

Optimism is not hope, for the optimistic tend to look for the silver lining in everything, after all when one door closes another usually opens and the optimistic always go forward looking to open doors rather than worry about what's still happening behind the closed door they just left.

If you are hopeful it can make you hesitate and miss opportunities, do you stare at the closed door wondering and wallow in the past or do you hope that a new door will open for you without realising you're not trying hard enough?

I'll tell you what hope is, hope is a see-saw between the past and the future, the past we already know but the future is still to be written and you can write it with the power of positivity covered with just a sprinkling of optimism.

So this new year I'm not hoping for anything but I will have an attitude adjustment incorporating all of the following:
Humility, determination, honesty regardless of circumstances, perseverance, positivity, open mindedness and sheer hard work.

I hope you enjoyed your past year and I wish your new year can give you new hope, new beginnings and a positive attitude so this time you will be a success in 2015.
